Non-CME Faculty Policy

  • Non-CME sessions restrict individuals with financial relationships with industry (or ineligible company) directly related to the session content from serving as Chair of the planning committee
    • AES staff will request disclosure from Chair as part of the proposal application and appropriately mitigate any relevant COI
    • ACCME definition of ineligible company: Companies whose primary business is producing, marketing, selling, re-selling, or distributing healthcare products used by or on patients.
  • Once the session proposal is reviewed and accepted, faculty must disclose all financial relationships with industry (ineligible company) to the Chair
    • Chair is responsible for reviewing and mitigating any conflicts directly related to the session content before planning begins
    • Chair is responsible for reviewing all non-CME slides in advance of the live presentation to ensure content is fair and balanced, and free of commercial bias
