Rationale: Artifact recognition is an essential skill in the interpretation of EEG. This can be incredibly challenging with ambulatory and LTM recordings but especially in the hostile environment of ICU’s and neuro ICU’S with the ever increasing volume of continuous EEG monitoring.Methods: Last year at AES we presented several common and uncommon samples of EEG artifact, normal variants and abnormalities selected for training and practice, then gave participants the opportunity to identify what they thought these clips represented. This year we give participants a chance to test themselves against 12 new examples. Test and rate yourself, keep score and compare to others of the same level of expertise. Test yourself on a scale of the number correct.Results: You will then be able to quantify the number of artifacts you were able to identify. Reviewing known artifacts and testing your knowledge on new or rare samples.Conclusions: Artifact recognition will continue to be a challenge to even the most experienced electroencephalographers, with new technologies and innovative patients continually adding to our list of interesting and confounding artifacts.
