RATIONALE: It is well known that the patients with complex partial seizure demonstrate dystonic posturing during the early phase of their seizures. In order to clarify the role of the basal ganglia(BG) upon seizure evolution of focal epilepsy, kainic acid-induced limbic seizure model and focal cortical seizure model were analysed using EEG, local cerebral glucose utilization(LCGU) or benzodiazepine receptor binding(BZ-R) autoradiography. METHODS: Forty Wistar rats were used in this study.
