Rationale: Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP) education is inconsistently provided by child neurologists, and the appropriate timing has not been established. We are measuring the wellbeing of parents before and after providing standardized education about SUDEP. Methods: The researchers developed a 5-minute video about SUDEP. Participants were randomized into an intervention or control group. Both groups completed a baseline likert-style questionnaire (Figure 1) assessing the psychologic impact of epilepsy, with three subscales: parental worry, locus of control, and child autonomy. The questions in the survey were derived from previously validated questionnaires, although the majority were adapted for the needs of this study. The intervention group watched the video at time of consent (T0) and completed a questionnaire afterwards. Both groups were given the same questionnaire at 3 months (T3), and the control group was subsequently shown the educational video. Mann-Whitney -u (MWu) tests assessed differences between scores at baseline and three months among control and intervention groups<./p>
