Rationale: To know relationship between 1H-MRS and the memory function of patients with epilepsy Methods: We employed MRI/MRS system to make 1H-MRS scan. Memory function examination of patients was proceeded by using Wechsler Memory Scale (WMS) Results: Our results showed that: (1)In memory quotient (MQ), there were significant differences between the patient(71.02+13.80) and the control(98.11+11.43, P<0.01), the generalized tonic-clonic seizure (GTCS) subgroup (73.68+14.34) and the control(P<0.01), the complex partial seizure (CPS) subgroup (71.44+10.52) and the control (P<0.01). (2)In MRS investigation, the result of NAA value showed that there were significant discrepancy between the patient group(1.50+0.32) and the control(1.83+0.17, P<0.01), the GTCS subgroup (1.53+0.25) and the control(P<0.01), the GPS subgroup (1.51+0. 26) and the control(P<0.01). While in NAA/(Cho+Cr), there were significant discrepancy between the patient(0.51+0.11) and the control (0.80+0.14) (P<0.01), the GTCS subgroup (0.51+0.12) and the control(P<0.01), the GPS subgroup (0.51+0.18) and the control(P<0.01). (3) There were positive correlations between MQ and NAA in epileptic patients( r= 0.567, t = 4.675, p<0.01), MQ and NAA/(Cho+Cr) ( r= 0.558, t=4.565, p <0.01).
