Rationale: The aim of this sudy is to investigate the features of sleep disorders in young men with epilepsy.
Methods: The study involved 30 men aged 18 to 44 years with different types of epilepsy (including focal, generalized and unknown). The presence of sleep disorders was studied using somnological questionnaires, the presence of daytime sleepiness according to the Epworth scale, and polysomnography. In all three groups, patients experience daytime sleepiness, difficulty falling asleep, maintaining nocturnal sleep, and eventually waking up. A significant relationship was obtained between daytime sleepiness at rest or during vigorous activity with the scale of the subjective characteristics of sleep, the difficulty of maintaining sleep, and disturbed falling asleep.
Results: The obtained data show obligatory disorders of the circadian rhythm "sleep-wakefulness" in all three basic groups of epilepsy.
Conclusions: The identified differences in the indicators of the subjective characteristics of the quality of sleep can be compared with the qualitative characteristics of the psyche in young men with these forms of epilepsy.
