Rationale: Rationale: Adverse effects of clobazam reported in literature did not include urinary retention. Methods: Methods: A retrospective chart review of three patients ages 10 to 16 with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome who were treated with clobazam and reported an adverse effect of urinary retention Results: Results: Urinary retention was noted in three patients (2 female, one male) after clobazam dose was increased. Symptoms occurred after being on this medication for a mean of 42 months (range 2-126 months); when on clobazam alone or in conjunction with other AEDs. All resolved with lowering of dose. Symptoms occurred when dose was increased. Conclusions: Conclusions: Urinary retention as a possible adverse event related to clobazam should be discussed with patients and families and urinary function monitored during treatment.
