CLEAR Health Pass at AES 2021

The following steps will assist you in downloading the CLEAR Health Pass mobile app, setting up your account, and loading your verification information.

AES strongly recommends completing this process prior to arriving at McCormick Place West. If you do not complete this in advance, please allow a significant amount of extra time to check-in and receive your badge onsite.

International Attendees: The CLEAR Health Pass app is a North America-based application and can only be downloaded and configured upon arriving in the United States.

The CLEAR Health Pass app will validate attendees who have received the following COVID-19 vaccines:

  • Pfizer
  • Moderna
  • Johnson & Johnson
  • Astra-Zeneca (vaccine card mus thave the Smart QR code to scan)

If you have received one of the above vaccines,
you should be able to use CLEAR Health Pass to verify your vaccine status. Please note that CLEAR Health Pass is a North America-based mobile app and can only be downloaded and configured once the user is in the United States or Canada.

If you have received a COVID-19 vaccine not listed above, please allow ample time for vaccine verification upon arriving at McCormick Place West. In addition to government-issued identification (e.g. your passport), you will need your vaccine card or a clear digital image of your card to be verified.

App FAQs arrow_drop_down

What is Health Pass by CLEAR?
Health Pass is a free service on the CLEAR app that connects your verified identity with your health insights to provide a safer, easier way back to the places and people you love. The digital vaccine card you create will sync with Health Pass for easier access to venues accepting COVID-19 vaccinations for entry.

How is my information used by Health Pass?
Please see the CLEAR Health Pass Member Terms and Privacy Policy.

Will AES have access to my vaccination information through Health Pass?
No. AES will only know that you have added this information to the CLEAR Health Pass system. We are using the app solely to validate your COVID-19 vaccination status to grant entry to AES 2021.

Management and Protection of Personal Information arrow_drop_down
  • No personal data is collected or retained by the American Epilepsy Society as part of the vaccination confirmation process. The only information that AES will see is the registrant’s photo and a “green light” on the registrant’s phone as you pass through the checkpoint.
  • AES conducted due diligence on the data security practices of the third-party service we have engaged to confirm vaccination status, and determined that reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against accidental, unlawful or unauthorized destruction, loss, alteration, access, disclosure or use are used by the service.
  • CLEAR Health Pass service uses industry-standard encryption, firewalls, and intrusion detection and prevention systems to safeguard certain sensitive information, including biometric data and government-issued identification information, plus protections designed to reduce the risk of human error, theft, fraud, and physical and/or environmental security breaches.
  • CLEAR Health Pass' provider’s help desk staff will not have access to biometric data or government-issued identification information.
  • After your vaccination status is confirmed for AES 2021 and you have received your badge, you may contact CLEAR Health Pass to have your data removed from the provider’s database.

Setting Up Your Health Pass

  1. Download the WHITE CLEAR Health Pass app (Apple App Store | Google Play Store).

  2. Upon installing and opening the CLEAR Health Pass app for the first time, select the option to create a free CLEAR account. Follow the prompts to create your account. If you already have the CLEAR Health Pass App, skip to number 4.
  3. To complete your enrollment, you will need to verify your identity with a US or Canada Photo ID or Passport. (AES 2021 attendees traveling to Chicago from outside the United States will need to wait to download the app until they have arrived in the US.)
  4. Once your account is created and verified, navigate to the home screen of the app where you will find your pass. Select the option to enter a code, click 'Have a code?' and enter EFATTENDEE43. AES 2021 is not listed in the event list in the app. You must enter the code above to connect to AES 2021.

  5. Next, review the 'Know this before you go' page to review the disclosure of what data is shared with Event Farm (EF)--the CLEAR Health Pass event partner that connects your verification in your app to your AES meeting registration. Please note the only information passed to Event Farm is your first and last name, Health Pass green or red status, and the time you completed your Health Pass. No other personal information is passed to Event Farm.

  6. Your last step is to add your COVID-19 vaccination details via card scan, Apple Health integration, or by syncing with pharmacy and healthcare provider records.
  7. Once the above steps have been successfully completed, your device will display a green screen featuring  your photo and a QR code. This is the code that will be scanned upon your arrival at registration to allow you to proceed to pick up your badge and meeting materials.
